WordPress Developer

About the Role

We are hiring a Mid WordPress Developer to join our engineering team in Ahmedabad. You will work on custom WordPress and WooCommerce projects for US and international clients, building themes, modifying plugins, and handling front-end implementation. You will not be working alone. Senior developers review your code, help you solve hard problems, and expect you to get better every month. This is the right role if you have a solid WordPress foundation and want to move toward senior-level custom development work in an agency environment.

What You'll Do

• Build and customize WordPress themes from design files using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Convert Figma and PSD layouts into pixel-accurate, responsive WordPress templates.
• Work with Advanced Custom Fields Pro to create flexible content layouts, custom field groups, and repeatable content blocks that clients can manage on their own.
• Customize and extend existing WordPress plugins when project requirements call for changes beyond default settings. Write clean hooks and filters rather than editing plugin core files.
• Build and modify WooCommerce storefronts: product templates, cart and checkout customizations, and basic payment gateway configuration.
• Write front-end code using modern JavaScript and CSS. Ensure cross-browser compatibility, responsive behavior, and performance standards are met on every page you touch.
• Debug and fix issues on staging and production sites. Trace problems through themes, plugins, and server logs to find the root cause, not just the symptom.
• Follow the team’s Git workflow for branching, pull requests, and code reviews. Push clean commits with clear messages and respond to review feedback promptly.

What We're Looking For

• 2 to 4 years of professional WordPress development experience. You have built or significantly customized WordPress themes and can show your work.
• Solid PHP skills applied to WordPress: custom post types, taxonomies, template hierarchy, hooks and filters, and the WordPress loop. You write WordPress code, not just generic PHP.
• Working knowledge of Advanced Custom Fields Pro, including field groups, flexible content, and repeater fields.
• Good front-end skills: HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and JavaScript (ES6+). You can take a design file and turn it into a responsive, working page without constant guidance.
• Basic understanding of WooCommerce: product setup, template overrides, and simple customizations. You do not need to be an expert, but you should not be starting from zero.
• Comfortable using Git for version control. You understand branching, merging, pull requests, and can resolve basic conflicts.
• Strong enough English to communicate with project managers and participate in team discussions. Client-facing communication is not expected at this level.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Gutenberg block development using React or vanilla JavaScript.
• Experience with any CSS framework (Tailwind, Bootstrap) and build tools (Webpack, Vite, Gulp).
• Familiarity with REST API basics and how WordPress uses them for headless or hybrid setups.
• Prior agency experience where you worked across multiple projects with different codebases.
